Clean Hands iWASH campaign 2016 - 2017


The  main "Clean Hands" objective  this year is  to reduce lost school days due to absenteeism from illnesses caused by common virus and bacteria.

The campaign aims to educate school children age 4-12years on the benefits and importance of cleaning hands as often as possible and in so doing impact attendance.

HealthCare Marketing (Jamaica) Ltd first launched the "Clean Hands" program in 2007 as a private /public initiative.

Special thanks to the team at the Ministry of Health Jamaica **Health and Promotions division for their input and help.

FACTS

  1. Every year 242 million school days are missed due to diarrhea. Good handwashing habit can keep children and school and learning.
  2. Every year 1.7 billions cases of diarrhea  worldwide and over I million  in Jamaica and the Caribbean. Millions of children do not live to see their fifth birthday worldwide due to illnesses from by poor hand hygiene.
